Lighting Change Out
Jervis B. Webb in Harbor Springs

high output fluorescent high bay fixturesDen Tippett, the lead manager at J.B. Webb, recently contacted me about changing out all the lights at their Harbor Springs facility. They manufacture industrial conveyor systems and automated vehicles.  I’ve been doing a predetermined section at a time and I change them out at night so as not to interfere with the daily operations of the plant.

The work they do there is quite amazing. There are engineers testing vehicles that run along a magnetic tape on the floor; stopping at predetermined intervals along the way. These automated vehicles designed to carry everything from giant rolls of sheet steel to motorcycles.

There are also teams of people wiring control panels that range in size from about a shoe box up to 15 feet long 8 feet tall and 2 feet deep.

They do everything there from welding raw steel together and powder coating to programming and wiring. It’s wonderful to see that kind of manufacturing still going on in Michigan.

The lights I’m installing are the new high output fluorescent high bay fixtures. What a change from the old metal halide variety. They take a little more power, but the light output is many times as bright. I’m quite sure it’ll make the job for those hardworking people at JBW that much easier.
